CHALLENGE:
CICF needed a more engaging and human-centered way to communicate the impact of its grantmaking and leadership initiatives. Traditional content focused heavily on funding announcements, which limited community connection and engagement—and additionally looked dated for posts made weeks or months after initial grant announcements. There was also a missed opportunity to deepen relationships with not-for-profit partners and reach broader audiences through authentic storytelling.
SOLUTION:
I created and launched “Your Story. Our Community.”—a digital storytelling campaign that spotlighted not-for-profit staff and the individuals they serve. Through compelling portraits and personal quotes, the campaign shifted the narrative from institutional to individual impact. This approach generated evergreen content that boosted social media engagement and created a ripple effect: featured organizations reshared content across their own platforms, significantly increasing CICF’s reach and bringing new followers to its channels. CICF’s social media then became the key source for expanding and diversifying the applicant pool for both grantmaking and scholarships.
The campaign also strengthened bonds with partner organizations, positioning CICF as a collaborator and amplifier of their work—not just a funder.
