CICF Video Response for Community During COVID-19
CHALLENGE:
In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, paired with rising social unrest, Central Indiana Community Foundation needed to quickly and authentically respond to its stakeholders. With staff working remotely and communities experiencing significant fear and uncertainty, CICF sought to share a unified message of reassurance, action, and continued support. The challenge: how to create a meaningful, professional-quality video message without access to a studio, equipment, or in-person coordination.
SOLUTION:
I collaborated with leadership and staff to co-develop the video’s script—crafting messaging that acknowledged the challenges of the moment while reinforcing CICF’s commitment to equity and community support. To execute the video during remote operations, I provided coaching and guidelines to staff for self-recording their segments at home, helping them feel confident and ensuring visual and audio consistency.
I then edited the footage using iMovie (not ideal, but it’s what I had) into a cohesive and emotionally resonant piece that reflected a strong, united voice from the organization. The final video was shared widely with fundholders, grantees, civic leaders, and the broader public—helping to strengthen trust, affirm CICF’s role as a steady partner, and humanize the organization during a time of widespread disconnection.
